Experienced Industrial AI, IoT Leadership
CEO, Project Lead
Andrew founded DecisionIQ in 2015 and built a great AI•IoT team that executed many successful projects surrounding failure prediction for equipment in the Industrial IoT. First projects were plagued with too many failure alerts that were “false positives.” It turns out these false alerts plague all failure prediction platforms from all vendors to the point of making the solution unusable. It comes from an inherent weakness in the data available to build the machine learning prediction models.
As engineers, we took a systematic approach to reduce these false positives. The first step was to make physics-based mechanical engineering a part of the feature extraction for building more accurate machine learning models. Second, the team closed the gap with a breakthrough “human-in-the-loop” decision process that combines the “human inference” of the maintenance technician with the AI system to solve the false positives. This approach has led to big wins on virtually all projects.
Prior technology experience includes experimental fighter aircraft development at the F-16 skunkworks, high-performance computer platform co-development with Apple Computer, and AI cloud systems with Amazon Web Services. Andrew graduated with a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. LinkedIn...
